ABSTRACT Uncertainty is a non-negative parameter associated with the result of a measurement that characterizes dispersion of the values that could reasonably be attributed to a particular magnitude subjected to measurement (measurand). The objective of this study was to estimate the uncertainty of a validated analytical method to quantify phosphorus in a cola beverage, using UV-Visible spectrophotometry. The sources of uncertainty were estimated with an Ishikawa diagram (cause-effect). Subsequently, the uncertainties were estimated, among which the mass uncertainty is, considering the calibration curve , weight, purity, molar mass, dilution factor and the concentration of the measurand. From these data, the combined standard uncertainty (uCP = 1.506 mgL-1), the relative standard uncertainty (urcp = 1.331 x 10-2) and the expanded uncertainty (UCP = 3.01 mgL-1) were estimated. In the process of validation of the analytical method, the phosphorus concentration in a cola drink was quantified, so that expanded uncertainty (UCP) value should be added to the results. Therefore, the final result was 113.15 ± 3.01 mg L-1 of phosphorus | es-ES |
